” I can respect a journalist’s right to be indifferent on a genre, but this is what happens when ignorance teaches” — Questlove

Shades of Blue. Train of Thought. The Listening. Black On Both Sides.
And what do you mean you have to ‘practice saintly levels of patience’ to enjoy instrumentals?  Some people like practicing a little activity called ‘freestyle’ where you improvise lyrics and melodies to the beat of said instrumentals, just like jazz. And this is the FOUNDATION for a lot of the emcees and singers that you love. What other genre out there exists where just about ALL musicians with any instrument can fit in? And most of the samples that these producers use were from and inspired by artists stemming from all walks of music.  I mean, listen to what Tall Black Guy is doing with the art and TELL ME YOU STILL WANT TO BAN ALL INSTRUMENTAL HIP HOP. (if you can’t enjoy him, I have nothing left to say to you.)
#smh #seriously?
